At-Ta’awun School of Arabic aims to be an authentic source of knowledge for the Muslim community. We aim to achieve this through providing quality educational courses in a variety of Islamic disciplines. We believe passionately that the foundation of Islam is knowledge and to foster a generation of educated, conscientious and above all practising muslims is the driving force behind this organisation.

Majid Ishaque -Director

Majid Ishaque is the Director of At-Ta'awun. After graduating in ICT in 1997 he undertook a PGCE in ICT (secondary). He spent many years in the state sector working in three different schools before taking a sabbatical to study Arabic in Egypt. Upon his return he worked as a Director of ICT & Business in a state school. He then took the decision to move to work in the independent faith school sector and joined Al-Noor Primary School in Ilford in 2007 as Assistant Head where he currently works. He is also a qualified school improvement partner for the Association of Muslim Schools, UK.

Along side his main teaching role he began to work with his former teacher Ahmad Barouni in At-Ta'awun. His main focus at At-Ta'awun is providing the managerial and administrative support to the teachers and students at At-Ta'awun as well as being part of the education committee which oversees the curriculum and its development .

Dr. Ahmad Barouni - Prinicipal

Ahmad Barouni is the Principal and founder of At-Ta'awun School of Arabic. Having spent ten years of intensive study under a large number of scholars in the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah, his aim is to teach the religion in it's pristine original form through the medium of the Arabic language. The medium through which the religion itself was revealed. He graduated from the Islamic University of Madinah in 1996 from the prestigious faculty of Hadith. He also has numerous ijaazas in various Islamic Sciences and complemented his university studies with traditional learning at the feet of the scholars. He completed his doctorate in hadith studies at the Makhtoum Institute, University of Aberdeen.

Alongside teaching at At-Ta'awun, he is responsible for developing the curriculum as part of the education committee. He is currently developing courses in Islamic Studies to be delivered in Arabic which will be offered at At-Ta'awun for all students who have completed Level 2B (Medina book 2). These courses will be offered from 2009 insha'Allah.
